Humble changed their pricing model this year, so it’s my last year subscribing, so I want to use a little more discretion and skip some months because they do have “tent poles” that interest me sometimes. This month the tent pole is Persona 5, which I hear is good, but I still have Persona 4 on my backlog and it doesn’t interest me too much.
After spending the past 2 hours trying to get Banishers running on Linux, I’ll say no if that is something that interests you. What a shit show.
My Time a Sandrock is very good.
Is it a big improvement over Portia? I have that from a previous month and never really sank time into it
I played Sandrock years after Portia, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think it’s an improvement. The mechanics are roughly similar, but I feel Sandrock is a little more polished.
There is an annoying water conservation mechanic that can be a bit irritating to deal with. Everything uses water, so if you run out you basically can’t do anything, but you can buy it and make moisture collectors to make things a little easier.
Is the combat and gameplay loop any good? The combat in portia is so horrible, and the gameplay loop is pretty boring, but i like the vibe it give.
I dont recall the combat being too different. You basically smack things until they die.
The gameplay loop is roughly similar, if a little more fleshed out. Get quests from villagers, create workbench that create things over time. Grab resources from various sources with skills that increase gradually over time. Multiple levels of resource tools, like axes, pickaxes, swords, etc.
If youre looking for a heavy action game, it’s not a main focus. It’s definitely more on the resource gathering/crafting realm of gameplay.
Their next game might have more of an action combat focused gameplay loop, as it takes place closer to a cartoon area of the world. I dont imagine it’s going to get anywhere near the typical hack 'n slash action rpg model that’s typical these days.
Yeah this is also what stopped me from playing Porria. I basically have the same questions as you.
Humble hasn’t been worth it since IGN bought it.
I disagree, it had been worth it less often, but they still have good bundles from time to time.
If it’s just about persona, I can send you the key
shit, if it’s nbd then that would be awesome
Sent you a DM, have fun:)
In my opinion, nope, not worth it
Lil Gator Game is fantastic! Short, but fantastic! I heard they are making a sequel recently, which has me hyped.
Also Banishers is kinda mid gameplay wise, but the story is really well done. Been playing it periodically on PS+ since it was added.
I assume you have, but I’ll call it out in case anyone hasn’t.
Anyone who likes lil gator game should ABSOLUTELY play a short hike. Its a 10/10 masterpiece imo. Really short and no replay value, but so good.
I actually hadn’t even heard of it, but I’ll definitely be checking it out soon now.
My partner and I both played A Short Hike at the same time, on separate computers, finished it in an afternoon/evening.
PLAY IT IT IS SO GOOD AND CUTE AND FUN
You wont regret it
wildmender is great, such a hidden gem
I was going to write the same, but im glad you beat me to it.
Banishers, Lil Gator, Tiny Terry’s all sold me. Daughter loves Persona so she got that one.
Have you played Banishers? That’s the only big one that looks kinda neat, Gator looks cute but I can pick that up on sale in a couple years
I haven’t yet. The trailers, reviews, and break down on the Steam page sold me on its concept since its release. Just been waiting on a sale or deal to have a go at it. Gator is cute, and I’m glad to have a game that I can just chill with. Tiny Terry’s is just fun all around. I started with them since I feel Banishers will involve more time on it.
It seems like this month is not for you.
I know that my wife really likes My Time in Sandrock and my kids enjoyed Lil Gator so it’s not all bad though.
