All the memes about those things got me interested in actually trying them. Turns out those light-blue packaged ones are a pain in the ass to find in the US - eventually spotted in the European section of a ‘world foods’ type grocer. Now I’m excited to dive in: not expecting magic or anything, but this much hype on the internet is founded on something surely.
Even made toast to eat em with to get the full experience.
They tasted like… beans. They’re just beans. Nothing special about the flavor or texture. On toast they taste like beans + bread.
You fuckers had me so pumped for that shit, and they’re just fuckin’ beans.
3/10. Sated hunger and curiosity. Nothing else.

He finally fell for it guys!
Okay guys, our job here is done. We don’t need to pretend being obsessed about beans anymore. Pack your beans and let’s go!
I’m half tempted to try it again on the suspicion that the can I found just wasn’t a good batch. I ain’t above being fooled twice.
Gotta butter the bread and put some cheese on the beans!
Not a huge fan of beans overall, but I’ve tried the UK beans and I found them more “savory” than US canned beans… like their sauce is more tomato sauce or something, and not like a BBQ sauce or a brown sugar sauce.
Like, they’re fine, but I think a lot of people expect them to be sweeter and then they’re just, not… Disappointment ensues.
Let me guess, American Baked Beans contain a minimum 20% HFCS?
Cheap premade ones maybe. We traditionally make them with brown sugar.
I love how its advertising 5+1 as if its a bonus. A 6 pack is not a new packaging technique and its easier to pack and ship an even numbers of cans. I’d even argue its almost false advertising but i guess the 6 pack is the price of 5 cans? But again, bulk pricing is not a new concept and would be somewhat expected.
but i guess the 6 pack is the price of 5 cans?
That’s a standard method for hiding a price increase. You start with a pack of 6 priced at $5.99. You then run a “5+1” campaign advertising this special deal at just $5.49. Great value! Finally, you end the campaign and set the new price at $5.49 × (6/5) = $6.59. Doing it this way reduces profit for the duration of the campaign, but customers won’t be as angry as with a straight increase, because the actual increase in this method is the $5.49 for the 5+1, which doesn’t “feel” like an increase.
It gets even worse. They were on Sale too. So I paid like for ~4 cans.
Which makes this whole 5+1 even more ridiculous.
I know it’s not in english but I love how they refer to bean cans as “Doses” hahahaa
Have you taken you shot of beens today? lol
payed
paid
Oh thank you 😅
4 + 1 + 1
i like how one can is apparently “1 dose”. inject those beans straight into my veins
PSA: Know your limit!⚠️ Don’t overbean! 🫘☠️ Go to https://quit-the-bean.gov/ for more Information on Bean replacement therapies in your local area or at home.
The “beanz” name makes it sound like it’s an artificial mockery of the real thing, like chicken “wyngz”.
They are vegan 100% plant based bean product.
Soup for your family?
Nice. Can I join?
Essential part of an English breakfast; “baked beans” like the ones the US typically have on shelves don’t work
Eggs bacon beans mushroom tomato sausage fried bread black pudding white pudding …… am I missing anything?
A side of statin.
HP sauce, of course!
I eat them from time to time but I don’t really like the taste. The sauce is super sweet like ketchup but without the tang. It’s very boring and bland and no matter what spices I add it somehow doesn’t get better. Really weird.
I bought the sugar free ones on accident. Didn’t even know those existed. And they shouldn’t.
That’s horrible.
you have never had mexican food with beans? african food with beans? latin american food woth beans? middle eastern food with beans? cajun food with beans? all the best beans in this world and you choose the ones jacked up with sugar probably to keep you addicted to sweets?
None of those are baked beans though.
My sibling in Christ — half of these, and others. Sometimes you want English breakfast beans. You buy Heinz and they’re sweet, but okay. You grab the sugar-free ones by accident and they’re artificially sweetened and a crime.
thought you didn’t know beans without sugar didn’t exist with the wording 👀 was just informing you there are plenty of ways to eat beans without sugar and still enjoy beans :)
Wait? Why would you have sugar in beans?
In France we have sugar in green pea. I usually look for a brand without it. I don’t see why someone would buy sweened legume if not to cook some asian sweet.
Because sometimes you put sugar in savoury stuff? Have you never had barbeque sauce before?
Ask Heinz – there’s sugar in the tomato sauce.
Deserves a toast!
Don’t let me catch you slippin’
I need my gratis dose of Heinz Beanz! (In a rich tomato suace (High Protein))
That’s gastastic
Plant-based protein at an excellent value.
