Yeah, I can’t be friends with people who vote for people who don’t want me to exist.

You’d think the crowd that avoided barcodes at grocery stores and had meltdowns over “microchips” supposedly in the COVID vaccine would be foaming over this administration.

andros_rex@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•4chan refuses to pay UK Online Safety Act fines, asks Trump admin to interveneEnglish14·9 days ago4chan has been mostly dead as a place of creativity for years. /b/ is mostly creepshots, AI generated porn, and a guy who has been spamming a picture inviting you to eat Andy Sixx’s shit for like 5 years now. /pol/ is basically Stormfront lite.
/lit/ and /mu/ were some of the best parts of 4chan but are shells of their former selves, some of the sfw boards sometimes have things of value but it’s time to move on.

I 100% do not want an unreal engine Morrowind remaster. I want Morrowind to be a buggy exploitable mess where I can buff my intelligence and speed into 5 digit numbers.
andros_rex@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Bethesda's re-releases and remasters are getting outta control.1·12 days agoThe Onion started publishing in 1988, and was online by 1996.
Landover Baptist has been on the net since 1998. I stumbled on it as kid, back when the family computer was for playing Neopets.
There’s been an increase in satire websites for sure, largely driven by the popularity of the Onion, and it does cause problems. There are conservative outlets which 100% put out complete and utter bullshit under the guise of “satire,” knowing that their audience has the gullibility of a five year old, and that’ll end up on garbage Facebook pages as unironic.
It’s not “conspiracy” but more - the Onion is very popular, popular things get knock offs, and opportunists saw a way to inject lies or laziness into the public discourse, while claiming they’re “satire.” (Similar to how CinemaSins on YouTube uses the term, “we were wrong about a basic thing in the movie? psych! the jokes on you for taking it seriously!)
I really miss that brief time that the Babylon Bee was good.
It’s “do not interact.” It’s really common on tumblr. Sometimes it’s reasonable “this is a porn blog, DNI if you are a minor” but sometimes it’s a comedically long list of political positions that they want you to agree with.
The media doesn’t cover protests. Most local channels are owned by mega corps like Sinclair.
The problem is that information outlets are owned by bad actors.
The real issue is that mental health in the United States is an absolute fucking shitshow.
988 is a bandaid. It’s an attempt to pretend someone is doing anything. Really a front for 911.
Even when I had insurance, it was hundreds a month to see a therapist. Most therapists are also trained on CBT and CBT only because it’s a symptoms focused approach that gets you “well” enough to work. It doesn’t work for everything, it’s “evidence based” though in that it’s set up to be easy to measure. It’s an easy out, the McDonald’sification of therapy. Just work the program and everything will be okay.
There really are so few options for help.
