My little gremlin often sees me break her treats into 4/5 pieces, although they are really long to start with so.

    Picture for the dog tax.

    Ah yes, hooman fee-mayles!

Does anyone else find it unhealthily creepy the way people put a voice to pets like this to anthropomorphise them, and gives them a creepy toddler voice to boot?

They’re smart in their own ways, but they don’t think the way we do, and we’ll never know exactly what they’re thinking or why. Let’s not presume to know what’s going on inside their heads.

And let’s not presume to add our own vocal track to their thoughts. Especially a creepy toddler one.

I don’t think most people take it so seriously.

It’s shorthand to denote that they’re not humans, and separate what you read from your own internal monologue. Because it’s a meme, it’s often done with haste and inconsistent. Although I’ve never met a toddler who talks in a manner like pet-net-speak.

Now that I think of it, I have a sincere question: do you find characters like Daffy or Donald Duck creepy? How about Scooby Doo?

If they had the ability to speak a human language who do you think their voice would sound?
