Turtle WoW is just an all around better classic experience.
The new content fits in the zones, fits with the lore and slower leveling journey.
I will never go play a vanilla classic server from Blizzard again after playing this.
This is made by people who actually care about the game and don’t just want your money.
Dunno about that last part. According to some comments I’ve read, the head of this project has been doing some shady shit for years.
Running their own mount shop in-game, taking other people’s work without permission, selling gold, whatever.

And? My comment wasn’t about Blizzard. Them being greedy doesn’t mean other people can’t (supposedly) be greedy as well. As you can read, I was just talking about one specific part of the parent comment.
That’s tame compared to blizzard tbf. Anyways these projects depend entirely on the reputation of the project and the goodwill of the community, you don’t have to trust someone when their cashflow depends on you liking what they’re making.
This was just to give some possible context about part of the first comment, that said this is made by a team that don’t just want your money.
To the devs behind this private server (or maybe just the leadership), this is a business, probably pretty profitable. They’ve been running ads, seemingly made to look like you’re going to play legit WoW. They’ve done this stuff before, (allegedly) exploiting others, stealing donation money, RMT, to make a quick buck themselves, before jumping to the next one.
This is such old accusation, it’s now in primary school.
This is a very long running con if that’s the case. Yet, there’s no proof they have such control/power over turtle wow.
Guys you really need to actually look at shit project by project.
The guy is an asshole and honestly just likes the easy money.
That’s honestly a shame, because (despite no longer playing) I came to Turtle WoW fresh out of Classic, and was blown away by how expansive and canon the experience felt. They expanded the game outward, not upward. I remember the Durotar starting zone had more details throughout, with immersive touches like orcish warriors training/drilling in the Valley of Trials. It was everything I wished Classic could have been. Blizzard (thinking they know better than the players as always) couldn’t be fucked to even entertain Classic+, and gave us whatever half-baked trash Season of Discovery was, with a congratulatory self pat on the back as though they did something innovative.
Fuck Blizzard. Turtle WoW outdid them long ago.
Blizzard was the OG enshittifying company. They turned wow into the biggest cow ever. Now it’s past death and they’re still trying to squeeze milk out of the corpse.
What’s the difference between Turtle WoW and WoW Classic? I’ve never played retail.

One side; A lot of custom content, races, actual balance and effort. New lore plausable zones etc.
On the other, 15 dollars a month for gold selling simulator. Boosting is far too rampant.
